Diwali Is 30 Days Away. Here's the Marketing Plan Most Businesses Will Miss

Diwali is on November 8 this year. Navratri starts on October 11, which is just two days from now.

Here's the uncomfortable part. Most small businesses will start thinking about Diwali marketing around November 1. By then, customers have already seen a dozen offers, made a shortlist, and half of them have already bought.

If you want to be on that shortlist, the next 30 days matter more than the last 7.

Step 1: Pick one offer this weekend

Not a discount menu. One offer you can say in a single sentence.

"Buy any two, get the third free." "Free installation till Diwali." "Gift box included with every order above a set amount."

If you need three sentences to explain it, customers won't remember it either.

Step 2: Start quietly during Navratri

You don't need to sell yet. Just show up. Post what's going on behind the scenes: packing, new stock arriving, the team getting ready. Say something's coming.

It costs almost nothing, and most of your competitors will be silent. People remember the business that was around before the rush.

Step 3: Don't ignore Dussehra

Dussehra falls on October 20, and it's a buying day by itself. Many families buy vehicles, gold, electronics and new things on that day instead of waiting for Diwali. If your offer works for Dussehra, say so.

Step 4: Push hard in the last 10 days

Now you go loud. Reminders, countdowns, stock-running-low messages, WhatsApp broadcasts to people who've already bought from you.

By this point you aren't introducing yourself. People know you. You're just giving them a reason to act now.

Step 5: Check your basics before the traffic arrives

Festive traffic is wasted if your Google Business Profile shows old timings or your website takes six seconds to load. Update festive hours. Fix your phone number everywhere. Make sure the page people land on has your offer on it, not just a generic homepage.

A quick checklist

  • One offer, one sentence
  • First teaser post by Navratri
  • A Dussehra mention
  • Updated Google Business Profile and festive hours
  • WhatsApp list ready to message

If you want a hand planning this properly, the team at Designogram, a digital marketing agency in Ludhiana, helps local businesses plan and run festive campaigns across social media, Google and WhatsApp.

Thirty days is plenty of time. It just isn't a lot of time to waste.
