Festival Season Is Here: Are You Prepared, or Just Depending on Walk-ins?
Navratri is wrapping up. Dussehra is on October 20, and Diwali is on November 8.
If your business plan for the next few weeks is "people will come in like they always do," this post is for you.
Why walk-ins aren't enough anymore
Walk-ins used to be simple. Someone passed your shop, liked the look of it, and came in.
Now most people decide before they leave home. They search on their phone, check two or three names, glance at the reviews, and then go. If you aren't one of the names, they never pass your shop in the first place.
A five-minute self-check
Open Google on your phone and search for your business the way a customer would. Something like "sweet shop near me" or "salon in Ludhiana." Then check:
- Do you show up? If not, you're invisible to anyone who didn't already know you.
- Is your information right? Wrong timings or an old phone number cost real customers.
- Are your photos recent? A profile with three-year-old photos looks closed.
- Are there recent reviews? Customers read the last few, not the oldest.
- Is there a festive offer anywhere? If not, you're asking people to guess.
What to fix this week
- Update your Google Business Profile. Festive hours, new photos, an offer post.
- Pick one offer with a date on it. "Till Diwali" works better than "limited time."
- WhatsApp your past customers. They already trust you, so they're the easiest sale of the season.
- Put the offer on your website's first screen. Don't make people hunt for it.
- Ask happy customers for a review. Right after a good purchase is the best moment.
You don't need to do it all
If you only do two things, update your Google profile and message your past customers. Both take an afternoon.
